Nomvethe Inspires Siyadlala Youth Through Football

On 13 October 2025, the fields of Laerskool Numbi in Hazyview were alive with excitement as young players from the Siyadlala Football Academy trained under the guidance of football legend Siyabonga “Bhele” Nomvethe. The coaching clinic, made possible by Trellidor Hazyview, brought together 30 players aged between 11 and 17 for a day of drills, mentorship, and inspiration.

For Trellidor Hazyview, this initiative reflects their ongoing commitment to giving back to the community. “The Academy teaches more than football,” said Damian Judge, Sales and Marketing Executive at Trellidor. “It builds teamwork, respect and responsibility—values we are proud to support.”

The Siyadlala Football Academy, founded by Bongani Tshabalala in 2011, was born out of his own football journey cut short by injury. Determined to make a difference, Tshabalala created a space for children across Mbombela, Hazyview, Bushbuckridge, and Lydenburg to access coaching and guidance. Today, the Academy boasts around 80 active players and has produced professionals like Sizwe Sithole and Joel Carlsson, alongside teachers, engineers, and lawyers who attribute their growth to the programme.

Tshabalala explained that the Academy is about much more than sport. “We teach punctuality, discipline and respect, while encouraging children to stay away from drugs and crime. Football keeps them safe, motivated, and part of something positive.”

The players were thrilled to train with Nomvethe, who emphasised the importance of focus, discipline, and good choices. For many, it was a day they will never forget.

Tshabalala described the collaboration with Trellidor as a “blessing” that validates the Academy’s work. He hopes continued partnerships will help expand facilities, provide more equipment, and one day create a clubhouse for players to live, study, and train.

“This collaboration sends hope,” Tshabalala said. “It shows our children that they are seen, that they matter, and that their futures are worth investing in.”

Through efforts like this, Trellidor Hazyview is not only securing homes and businesses, but also empowering the next generation of leaders, athletes, and community builders.
