Mkhuhlu is carving out a new cultural identity through Mkhuhlu Comes Alive, a youth-driven movement founded in 2024 by Nyiko “DJ Guski” Nkuna under GM Entertainment. Supported by Ntokozo Mdhluli, Polite Mondlani and Simon Mabaso, the initiative has quickly become a platform for music, food and community connection.
The project transforms everyday spaces such as eateries, car washes and open areas into lively entertainment hubs. Hosting daytime events provides a safe, family-friendly atmosphere that boosts local businesses and celebrates home-grown talent.

Nkuna said the idea was born from a need to change perceptions. “People often go outside Mkhuhlu for leisure because they think it’s boring. We wanted to show that our town has its own vibe.”
The first event, held on 31 December 2024 at Ackzer Fruit & Veg, attracted strong support. Since then, the brand has grown steadily, with larger audiences attending throughout 2025.
“Mkhuhlu Comes Alive is about pride and opportunity,” Nkuna added. “We are giving local DJs, vocalists and performers a stage to shine here at home.”
With growing popularity, the initiative is positioning Mkhuhlu as a vibrant cultural and entertainment hotspot.
