The Kruger National Park (KNP) experienced record-breaking attendance on National Heritage Day, which coincided with the week-long South African National Parks (SANParks) Week. Thousands of visitors flocked to the park to enjoy its world-renowned wildlife and landscapes.

However, due to capacity limits and strict safety protocols, many hopeful guests were turned away. In a statement, park management said they regretted the inconvenience but welcomed the public’s enthusiasm.

“We urge all future visitors to plan ahead and make bookings before leaving home to avoid disappointment,” the management said.

SANParks reminded the public that although entry is free during National Parks Week, gate quotas remain in place to ensure a safe and enjoyable visit. Visitors are encouraged to use the online booking system or contact park offices directly to secure their entry.

At Kruger National Park, free entry runs from Monday, 22 September, to Friday, 26 September 2025. No free entries will be permitted over the weekend of 27 and 28 September.
