Workers replacing the transformer

The municipality has issued an update to residents regarding the ongoing water supply interruption caused by a faulty transformer at the Inyaka Raw Water Pump Station.

According to the municipality, there was a delay in the delivery of the replacement transformer to the Inyaka Water Treatment Plant after it failed the final insulation test before loading. The test is conducted during the manufacturing stage to ensure that the transformer is safe, functional and ready for transportation, delivery and installation.

The replacement transformer is now scheduled to be delivered to the site today, 7 June 2026, with installation expected to take place tomorrow, Monday, 8 June 2026.

Affected areas include Mapulaneng Hospital, College View, Mphenyatsatsi, Bushbuckridge CBD, Boikhutso, Mountain View, Shatale, Acornhoek, Dwarsloop, Thulamahashe, Marite, Ludlow, Rolle, Agincourt, Shangaan Hill and surrounding areas.

Residents are urged to use water sparingly where supply is still available and to remain patient while work to restore normal supply continues.
