The Mpumalanga Department of Education has officially handed over the Lucky Dube School of Performing Arts in Ermelo, honouring the legacy of one of South Africa’s most celebrated musicians.
Lucky Dube was born in Ermelo on 3 August 1964 and went on to achieve international acclaim as a reggae artist. He was tragically killed in Johannesburg in October 2007.
The new school is expected to help nurture young talent and keep Dube’s passion for music and the arts alive for future generations.
