A 40-year-old man has been arrested after he was allegedly found in possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition at a tavern in Mandela Village, Bushbuckridge.
The arrest was carried out by members of the Enhlazeni District crime prevention team on Friday, 24 October 2025, at around 22:00. Police acted on a tip-off regarding a man believed to be carrying a firearm and reportedly wanted in connection with other cases under investigation by the Bushbuckridge SAPS.
Upon arrival at the tavern, officers identified a suspect matching the description provided. A search was conducted, leading to the discovery of an unlicensed firearm and eight live rounds of ammunition.
The suspect was taken into custody and charged with possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition. Police are continuing with investigations to determine whether he may be linked to other criminal activities in the area.
He is expected to appear at the Bushbuckridge Magistrates’ Court on Monday, 27 October 2025.
