Mpumalanga Premier Mandla Ndlovu has officially announced the appointment of Lieutenant General Nkaokoane Apaphia Modise as the new Provincial Commissioner of the South African Police Service (SAPS) in Mpumalanga.

Lieutenant General Modise will officially assume the role on 1 August 2026, taking over the leadership of policing in the province.

The appointment marks the beginning of a new era for the SAPS in Mpumalanga, with Lieutenant General Modise expected to lead efforts aimed at strengthening crime prevention, improving public safety, and enhancing policing services across the province.

Premier Ndlovu welcomed the appointment, expressing confidence that the new Provincial Commissioner will provide strong leadership in addressing crime and maintaining law and order throughout Mpumalanga.
