Ehlanzeni Police Receive 26 New Vehicles to Strengthen Crime Prevention

Police in the Ehlanzeni District have received 26 new vehicles and four motorcycles to strengthen crime prevention and improve policing ahead of the 2026/2027 festive season.
The vehicles were handed over by Mpumalanga Premier Mandla Ndlovu at Mathibela Sports Ground in Oakley, Bushbuckridge, on Thursday, 29 October 2026, during the provincial launch of the Safer Festive Season campaign.
The allocation forms part of the provincial government's efforts to enhance police visibility, improve response times and intensify crime-fighting operations during the busy festive period.
During the launch, Ndlovu also addressed crime concerns in the Calcutta policing precinct, linking the area's crime challenges to rivalry between two gangs originating from Marite.
The Premier's remarks come amid ongoing concerns about violent crime in parts of the Bushbuckridge area, with communities calling for increased police visibility and effective interventions to address criminal activities.
In total, 76 vehicles, including two kombis, have been distributed to police stations and units across Mpumalanga as part of efforts to strengthen law enforcement capacity throughout the province.
The additional vehicles and motorcycles are expected to support police operations, enabling officers to respond more effectively to crime incidents and conduct targeted patrols as authorities work to ensure safer communities during the festive season.
