New CoGHSTA Head assesses departmental performance and service delivery

The newly appointed Head of the Department of Co-operative Governance, Human Settlements and Traditional Affairs (CoGHSTA), Ms Gugu Mashiteng, is undertaking a review of project implementation, departmental performance and possible interventions to improve service delivery across Mpumalanga.

The engagement, currently underway at the Provincial Disaster Management Centre in Mbombela, provides a platform for various programmes within the department to present their performance reports and outline strategies to address challenges affecting implementation.

Among the programmes under review are Building Construction and Project Management, Technical Services, Water Services, the Municipal Infrastructure Grant (MIG) and Waste Management.

The sessions are aimed at identifying bottlenecks, strengthening programme implementation and improving coordination to ensure that departmental projects deliver the intended outcomes.

Through these engagements, CoGHSTA seeks to ensure that its programmes remain effective, responsive and aligned with the service delivery needs of communities across the province.

The review process will continue in the coming days, with attention shifting to the Cooperative Governance branch and the department's Administration component.
