NEW DEPUTY DIRECTOR-GENERAL APPOINTED AT MPUMALANGA OFFICE OF THE PREMIER

The Director-General in the Office of the Premier, Ms Maggie Skosana, has officially welcomed Mr Gerald Sibanyoni as the newly appointed Deputy Director-General for Institutional Development and Integrity Management.
Mr Sibanyoni is among several newly appointed and promoted officials, including Directors, whose appointments took effect on 1 November 2026.
He joins the Office of the Premier with extensive Public Service experience, having occupied various positions throughout his career. Before his latest appointment, he served as Chief Director in the Mpumalanga Department of Labour.

Mr George Mthethwa, who recently served as Chief Director of Provincial Government Communication and Information Systems (PGCIS), had been acting in the Deputy Director-General position.
Welcoming Mr Sibanyoni, Ms Skosana highlighted integrity, accountability and urgency as key principles expected of him in executing his new responsibilities.
She emphasised that the Office of the Premier was working towards becoming a strategic centre of excellence and expected the newly appointed Deputy Director-General to contribute towards improving its overall performance.
"For us to fulfil our vision of a strategic centre of excellence, we are all expected to lead with integrity and act with urgency. We expect you to enhance the performance of the Office of the Premier," she said.
Ms Skosana also underscored the importance of maintaining the Office's clean audit record, which it has achieved over the past two audit cycles.
She urged Mr Sibanyoni to ensure that all performance targets outlined in the Annual Performance Plan (APP) are achieved while maintaining compliance with financial and legal requirements.
"Your performance will define your legacy. We are all expected to defend our clean audit through the achievement of all set targets outlined in the APP, and to comply with financial and legal prescripts," she reiterated.
